Wednesday Evening Rides at the Muir

The ‘ExCITed’ Crew (eSpeCially Xtra CrAzy IrRegular TrailBuildin’ Crew) had an Enjoyable Ride on Wednesday evening.  They met at their usual spot at the Muir Parking Lot, which was surprisingly very wet with many standing puddles.  A heavy rain had obviously just come through the Southern Kettles before their arrival.

TB Dave, who had come to meet up and Ride with the Crew, had just come from a couple of hours Riding at the Emma Carlin, and said it was Dry there.  No Rain!!  So, the Crew headed over to the Carlin to enjoy their weekly Ride.

It was the right thing to do!  NO rain and Great Trail conditions.  The Crew experienced all of the New Trail recently built at the Carlin.  SWEET!  It was Fun!!  With LOTS of laughs.

Get out and give these New Trails a try too; and join the Crew on one of their weekly evening Rides!

Spring TrailBuildin’ at Emma

The Spring TrailBuildin’ Season for the Southern Kettles is nearing it’s end.  THREE Saturdays are all that is left to ‘Make a Difference’ out on OUR Trails (OUR Trails means: YOUR Trails – Built and maintained AND ENJOYED by US mountain bike Riders).  If you’ve been meaning to, but have been putting off coming out to Help, ya better make time SOON.

THIS Saturday, we will be back at Emma Carlin Building NEW Trail.  About 1/3 of a mile of New Trail has been flagged and WILL BE cleared AND OPENED this Saturday!  Some pretty interesting Trail Features on this segment!  Come out and Help be a part of this Section of Trail (you’ll always remember the area YOU built as you ride through it)!

Meet at Emma Carlin Parking Lot at 8:30am.  FREE food and beverages will be available after the WorkDay, provided by CAMBR (Chicago Area Mountain Bikers) who will be attending the WorkDay.  They, too, feel they need to ‘Give a Little Back’ to the Trails that they enjoy!

Trailbuildin’ Video @ Emma Carlin 5/1/10

TrailBlazer Dave and the eSpecially crAzy Irregular TrailBuildin’ Crew are at it again at the Emma Carlin Trail system in the Southern Kettle Moraine State forest. After weeks of toil and labor we finally broke through to the overlook on the green loop with the new trail section. And to commemorate the occasion I am making my first foray into the world of split screen editing. Not only that but as an extra special treat, this video features the music of our very own Craig Smith. Hope you all like….no, love this video.

Letter of Commendation

To ALL of you Great Volunteers         –

Below is one of Many letters sent recently to Paul Sangren, the Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest Superintendant.

Dear Sir,

Please convey my appreciation to the wonderful people who have been building mountain bike trails in the Southern Unit (especially Emma Carlin cluster and the Connector trail).  I have been riding these trails since the early 90’s and have loved every minute of it.  The new trails are fun to ride or hike and sustainable for years of use.  I would love to help with maintaining the trails in any way possible.

My experiences in the Southern Kettles hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and camping have all been beautiful.  It truly is a natural treasure.

Thank you,

James Borgealt

You ALL deserve the credit!  Whether you have Volunteered one day or many, YOU have made a difference.
